Privacy Policy — Gensou Scaper

This policy explains what the Gensou Scaper Android application (package com.gensou.scaper, the “app”) does and does not do with information. It applies to the app itself. It does not cover Google Play, which has its own privacy policy governing what Google collects when you download or update an app.

Information we collect

None. The app has no sign-up, no login, and no user profile. It never asks you for your name, email address, phone number, date of birth, location, payment details, or any other personal information, and it has no field in which you could enter them.

Specifically, the app does not:

• collect, transmit, or store any personal or sensitive user data;
• read your Android Advertising ID or any other device or user identifier;
• access your location, contacts, calendar, photos, camera, microphone, call logs, SMS, or files outside its own private storage;
• contain advertising of any kind;
• contain analytics, telemetry, crash reporting, attribution, or A/B-testing software;
• contain any third-party advertising or analytics SDK.

What the app stores on your device

The app saves your work locally so you can come back to it. All of it is written to the app's own private storage area, which on Android is readable only by this app:

• Saved aquascapes — a small JSON file per saved design, recording which items you placed and where (position, rotation, scale), plus the tank settings.
• Gallery thumbnails — a small PNG preview of each saved design, rendered from the app's own 3D view.
• Photos you capture — PNG images of your tank, saved when you use the in-app capture button. These are rendered from the app's 3D scene; the device camera is never used.

None of this is uploaded anywhere. There is no cloud sync, no backup service, no sharing or export path, and no account to attach it to. It exists only on your device.

Deleting your data

You can delete an individual saved design from the gallery inside the app. To remove everything at once, clear the app's storage in Android Settings → Apps → Gensou Scaper → Storage, or uninstall the app — uninstalling deletes all of it. Because nothing is stored off your device, there is nothing for us to delete on our side and no data-access request to make.

Network activity

The Google Play version of the app makes no network requests. It works entirely offline and has no reason to reach the internet.

A separate build of the app is distributed directly from scaper.gens-ou.com for people who install it outside Google Play. That build has one network feature: if you tap Check for Updates, it fetches a small version file from that site and, if a newer version exists, downloads it. It sends no information about you or your device in that request — no identifier, no usage data, no request body. As with any web request, the server can see the connecting IP address and the time of the request in its logs; that is a property of how the internet works, not data the app gathers about you. This feature exists only in the direct-download build and is never triggered on its own — only when you tap the button.

Permissions

The Google Play version of the app requests no Android permissions. The direct-download build additionally requests INTERNET and REQUEST_INSTALL_PACKAGES, used solely for the manual update check described above.

Children

Gensou Scaper is a design tool for aquarium hobbyists and is not directed at children under 13. Because the app collects no data at all, it collects no data from children either.

Sharing and disclosure

We have no data to share, sell, or disclose. No data is sold or transferred to third parties, and none is processed for advertising, profiling, or any other purpose.

Changes to this policy

If the app ever gains a feature that handles data differently, this policy will be updated before that feature ships, and the “Last updated” date above will change. Material changes will also be noted in the app's release notes on Google Play.
